We’ve finally gotten our hands on some video of RONIN ATHLETICS’s own, Sidney Negron, in his 7-0 victory journey @ the 2008 NAGA World Championships!

Here are two short videos of his final, gold medal matches:

To see the entire 20 minute video of all 7 matches, check it out on Veoh.

Way to go, Sidney!

Huge congratulations to our latest blue belt, Vinh Hua!

vinh-gets-blue-belt.jpgVinh has been training with RONIN ATHLETICS for under two years and was recently promoted to blue belt by our good friend and one of our BJJ Black Belt mentors, Dave Ginsberg (who Vinh also trains with in his hometown of Boston, Mass).

Congrats, Vinh!!!

I would like to congratulate all the guys from Team Ronin Athletics who competed last weekend, April 5th and 6th, at the NAGA Worlds tournament in Newark, New Jersey. We had a couple a lot of first time-ers and some of our more experienced athletes compete, notably …

Roger Dardas and Josh Bonacci both going 2-1 in Middleweight and Cruiserweight Intermediate divisions, respectively.

James Han and Zak Koonce both going 1-1 in Beginner Heavyweight and Intermediate Welterweight, respectively.

Everyone did great and learned a lot. this past NAGA was actually one of the better run events they’ve had in quite some time, so thank you to Kipp and whole NAGA crew as well.

A special nod goes out to:

Chris Froelich
- 1st place in Master’s Intermediate LightHeavyweight
- 2nd place in Men’s Intermendiate LightHeavyweight

Sidney Negron
- 1st Place in Teen’s No-Gi Beginner
- 1st Place in Teen’s Gi White Belt

Awesome job, guys!!

Congrats to Ryan Elsasser!

Big congrats to RONIN ATHLETICS’ own Ryan Elsasser on his taking second place in the ACOM Sports submission grappling tournament in Rahway, NJ.

Ryan just got back to training this week after having been away since his school’s winter break and decided at the last minute to compete. Because of a large turnout, Ryan’s beginner, 170 lb weight division was combined with 170 lb fighters from the intermediate and advanced divisions!

Ryan won three matches (twice by points and once via ankle lock) and made it to the finals where he lost via points to a very experienced competitor. Definitely an impressive performance taking second place against more advanced guys.

Congrats, Ryan!

Huge congrats to RONIN ATHLETICS’ very own Roger Dardas for winning his division at the Arnold’s NAGA tournament this past weekend in Ohio.

Roger won 1st place, Men’s Beginner (surely his last time in this division) - winning 6 matches overall!

2 wins via points
2 wins via armbar
1 win via triangle
1 win via triangle-armbar

Congrats Roger!!!
