Big congrats to RONIN ATHLETICS’ own Ryan Elsasser on his taking second place in the ACOM Sports submission grappling tournament in Rahway, NJ.
Ryan just got back to training this week after having been away since his school’s winter break and decided at the last minute to compete. Because of a large turnout, Ryan’s beginner, 170 lb weight division was combined with 170 lb fighters from the intermediate and advanced divisions!
Ryan won three matches (twice by points and once via ankle lock) and made it to the finals where he lost via points to a very experienced competitor. Definitely an impressive performance taking second place against more advanced guys.
Congrats, Ryan!

Many thanks to our good friend — BJJ black belt and multiple-time Pan American jiu-jitsu champion, David Ginsberg — for the impromptu workshop Saturday evening.
Dave went over his incredible inside-hooks game, some half-guard top strategies, and then proceeded to roll with everyone in attendance giving individual tips & advice.
Dave is currently teaching at Wai Kru MMA in Boston so definitely look him up if you’re in the area.
Thanks, Dave!
